Privacy policy
Last updated: April 2026. This policy describes how lplate handles personal information.
1. Who we are
lplate is a web application offering practical AI-related tools for small scale farmers in Zimbabwe. The operator is the person or organisation hosting this instance; for questions use the Contact page.
2. What we collect
- Account data — if you register: email address, name, and a password hash (not the plain password).
- Messages — content you send via the contact form (name, email, message text).
- Monitoring data — metric labels, numeric values, and timestamps you or demo features store while logged in.
- Uploads — images you submit to diagnostic tools are processed for inference and may be transmitted to external model services as described in our terms.
- Technical data — standard server logs (for example IP address, user agent, timestamps) may be kept for security and debugging.
3. Cookies and sessions
We use cookies (or similar technologies) needed to keep you logged in and to protect forms with CSRF tokens. By using the site you agree to this necessary use.
4. Why we use your information
To run and improve the service, respond to enquiries, secure accounts, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Sharing
Inference providers may process uploaded images or related payloads according to their own policies. We do not otherwise share personal data with third parties except where required by law or to protect rights and safety.
6. Retention
We keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. Contact messages and monitoring readings may be deleted on a schedule determined by the operator of this deployment.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical measures (such as password hashing and HTTPS where configured) but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. Your choices
You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you where applicable law allows. Use the Contact page to make such a request.
9. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13. If you believe we have collected a child’s data in error, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes may also be announced on the site where practical.
