lplate is an AI-powered platform designed to extend agricultural knowledge to smallholder farmers. By packaging intelligent models into accessible tools, lplate replicates and scales the role of agricultural extension workers—delivering timely, data-driven advice directly to farmers.

Our goal is to bridge the gap between advanced research and real-world farming by making AI practical, affordable, and usable in everyday agricultural decision-making. From disease detection to farm management insights, lplate empowers farmers to improve productivity, reduce losses, and make informed decisions.

The platform leverages curated datasets, trained machine learning models, and knowledge resources to support a growing ecosystem of smart agriculture solutions.

We are a multidisciplinary team of researchers and developers, initially supported by the Midlands State University Innovation Hub, committed to advancing AI applications in agriculture across Africa and beyond.
